We’re Keeping Our Hands Clean to Combat COVID-19

May 28, 2020

Dentist following safety protocols for COVID-19.To fight the COVID-19 pandemic, we are all taking extra precautions to prevent transmitting the virus. As state restrictions are starting to lift and you’re able to resume more of your normal life, a trip to your dentist may be at the top of your priority list; however, we know there are still concerns about the coronavirus. Our team at Sunrise Dental Service is committed to the safety of our staff and patients. We’ll do more than just wash our hands and wear gloves. We’re going the extra mile using the latest Personal Hygiene Standards to combat COVID-19 while providing the high-quality dentistry you need.

Handwashing for a Germ-Free Visit

Proper handwashing is essential for keeping any workplace germ-free; however, Dr. Makadia and his team do more than just wash to the “Happy Birthday Song.” We will take the time to thoroughly scrub our hands for at least 20 seconds to prevent spreading germs and infections. Rest assured, your dental team will follow the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention’s guidelines for oral hygiene by washing our hands:

  • Before contact with a patient.
  • After touching the skin or body of a patient.
  • After removing gloves.
  • After handling specimens, materials, body fluids, etc.
  • After providing patient care.

We will completely dry our hands after washing to prevent bacteria and microorganisms that can live within moist areas. Our team will also use gloves to further reduce the risk of transferring the virus. In fact, research shows gloves reduce hand contamination by as much as 80%. These steps will keep our environment and patients safer to prevent the spread of infection and diseases from person-to-person.

Personal Hygiene Standards

Good hand washing is an effective way to prevent the spread of germs between our team and patients; however; we want to do more to reduce the spread of COVID-19. Our office has implemented the latest Personal Hygiene Standards, including:

  • Hair must be worn up.
  • No long or artificial fingernails.
  • No jewelry while in the office.
  • No watches while in the office.

Our team has undergone advanced training in the latest awareness programs to provide the safest, cleanest dental care possible. We will also perform daily health checks to ensure we are well before contact with any patient for the day.

Choose Safe Dental Care

As we all work together to stop the spread of COVID-19, there will be many changes along the way. While there is a stronger emphasis on sanitation, rest assured, you’ll still enjoy the same exceptional quality of care from Dr. Makadia and his team. You can keep your dental health a top priority while we keep your safety in mind.
