For many people, quality of life and health are greatly impacted due to snoring. It can be you, your sleep partner, or a family member. Interrupted sleep is particularly impactful on children. Issues of cognitive impairment and behavioral problems have been found to occur more often in children with primary snoring than in those who never or rarely snore. Regular snoring may affect the nervous system and have negative effects on cardiovascular health.
Fortunately, our office offers an elegant solution to snoring that is available to patients of virtually all ages: NightLase. Continue reading to learn how NightLase helped one child in particular.
The Case
This young patient was snoring as per his parents. He is too young to get a snore appliance or sleep apnea machine.
He was feeling restless, had a hard time concentrating, and was becoming cranky during the daytime. His medical doctor recommended laser snoring treatment. His parents found Dr. Makadia and brought him in for a consultation. Because he is a very young kid, he was afraid. Our team did everything in our power to help him feel comfortable.
After Dr. Makadia examined his throat and discussed his condition and how the treatment works, etc., his parents were ready to move forward with the NightLase snoring reduction treatment.
The treatment is minimally invasive and involves no scalpels, needles, or sutures. Thanks to its pain-free nature, the treatment sessions for the child went smoothly.
His initial Snore Score was 123 with the epic period as shown in the orange. After the treatment, his Snore Score was recorded as 45 with no epic period. His parents were extremely happy that his snoring has been reduced considerably and he can now get better sleep at night and stay calm during daytime.
